Earl
Schurmer attended the University of Southern California from 1982-1986 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. Mr. Schurmer received his Juris Doctorate in 1991 from Southwestern School of Law in Los Angeles. Mr. Schurmer is admitted to practice law in all of the State and Federal Courts in California and is a member of the Consumer Attorneys of California, Consumer Attorneys of Los Angeles, American Trial Lawyers Assocation and the Ventura and Santa Barbara County Bar Associations. Mr. Schurmer is a past participant and member of the Santa Barbara and Ventura Inns of Court. He has and continues to act as Judge Pro Tem at the Ventura and Santa Barbara Superior Courts as a settlement officer and has acted as an arbitrator in numerous cases throughout Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties.
Mr. Schurmer began his professional career as an associate attorney at the law firm of Gilbert, Kelly, Crowley & Jennet, an insurance defense firm in Los Angeles that specialized in defending all types of personal injury actions. Mr. Schurmer handled all aspects of litigation and gained extensive experience. He also had substantial dealings with insurance company managers and adjusters relating to value determinations and resolution of claims.
In 1993 he moved to Santa Barbara to practice law with his father at the Law Offices of Schurmer & Drane. Since that time he has handled all types of personal injury and wrongful death actions from the initial client meeting to verdict. He has handled hundreds of arbitrations and has tried numerous cases to verdict in matters ranging from automobile accidents to complex medical malpractice and wrongful death claims.
Earl and his wife Rhonda have been married for 22 years. They currently reside in Santa Barbara and are raising three children. |

Lauren Miller received her law degree from Golden Gate University School of Law, where she appeared on the Dean’s List. Ms. Miller studied abroad at the
Université Paris Ouest Nanterre La Défense, in Paris, France, studying French law and European Union legal concepts.
Ms. Miller has interned with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity office in San Francisco, as well as a toxic tort firm specializing in asbestos defense. Ms. Miller began her personal injury career when she interned for a plaintiff’s personal injury litigation firm specializing in automobile accidents, bicycle accidents, and dog bites.
Ms. Miller graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara and earned her Bachelor of Arts with a major in Political Science and a minor in Global Peace and Security, also receiving Dean’s Honors. As an undergraduate, Ms. Miller played two years of competitive golf for the Santa Barbara City College Women’s Golf Team, under Coach Chuck Melendez, with the team placing first in their division in 2004.
Ms. Miller is an active member of the State Bar of California and is licensed to practice law in California. She is also a member of the Ventura County Bar Association, the Santa Barbara County Bar Association, Santa Barbara Women Lawyers, and the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles.
