Founded in 1968, Linder, Schurmer, Drane & Bullis specialized in all types of personal injury and wrongful death actions on behalf of plaintiffs. This partnership went through a number of changes until finally becoming Schurmer & Drane in the late seventies. Walter H. Drane, Esq. passed away in 1984, however out of recognition for his service and contribution to the firm, his name remains.
In the early eighties, branch offices were established in other Tri-County areas including Arroyo Grande, Santa Maria and Ventura/Oxnard. The firm now maintains two offices, one in the Ventura/Oxnard area and one in Santa Barbara. Earl Schurmer is a member of both the Santa Barbara and the Ventura County Bar Associations.
The firm continues to specialize in serious personal injury and wrongful death cases of many types, including automobile, motorcycle and pedestrian accidents, medical malpractice, product liability, premises
liability and governmental claims.

Earl Schurmer attended the University of Southern California from 1982-1986 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. Mr. Schurmer received his Juris Doctorate in 1991 from Southwestern School of Law in Los Angeles. Mr. Schurmer is
admitted to practice law in all of the State and Federal Courts in California. He is a member of the Consumer Attorneys of California, Consumer Attorneys of Los Angeles and the American Trial Lawyers Association. He has and continues to act as Judge Pro Tem at the Ventura and Santa Barbara Superior Courts, as a settlement officer and has acted as arbitrator in numerous cases throughout Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.
Mr. Schurmer began his professional career as an associate attorney at the law firm of Gilbert, Kelly, Crowley & Jennett, an insurance defense firm in Los Angeles that specialized in defending all types of personal injury actions. Mr. Schurmer handled all aspects of litigation and gained extensive experience. He also had substantial dealings with insurance company managers and adjusters relating to value determinations and resolution of claims.
In 1993 he moved to Santa Barbara to practice law with his father at the Law firm of Schurmer & Drane. Since that time he has handled all types of personal injury actions from the initial client meeting to verdict. He has handled over 100 arbitrations and has tried several cases to verdict in matters ranging from automobile accidents to medical malpractice and wrongful death.
Mr. Schurmer has extensive experience in handling all types of cases including but not limited to auto and truck accidents, products liability, medical malpractice, elder abuse and construction site accidents. Mr. Schurmer is a member of the Santa Barbara and Ventura County Bar Associations.
Earl and his wife Rhonda have been married for 18 years. They currently reside in Santa Barbara and are raising three children.
